Fair Trade Fiesta 2017 involved people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds and aimed to raise more awareness of World Fair Trade Day and Scotlands' Fair Trade Nation status and of the Fair Trade Movement - through a vivid Carnival Parade and engaging FREE five hour Concert with Red Hot Chilli Pipers headlining the event, and over 200 performers on board. The event was delighted to welcome Fair Trade Ambassador, broadcaster & journalist Gail Porter as well President of the World Fair Trade Organisation, Rudi Dalvai, attending from Italy. With a fantastic Carnival Parade from The City Chambers in the heart of The Royal Mile, going down to Princes Street Gardens, second part of the event was a FREE five hour world music concert , with amazing performers: Got Soul, Cantara, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Zuba, Kyle and the Radix, Daniel Allinson, Nadia Alkoc, Davidson Mains Pipe Band and Pulse of the Place, as well over 200 performers and speakers including Minister for Europe and International Development Dr. Alasdair Allan, President Dalvai. What makes Fair Trade helps farmers and producers all around the world to obtain fair prices for their goods while also supporting better working conditions. We believe in fairer more sustainable practises that Fair Trade aspires to and therefore feel strongly that platforming such an engaging event as Fair Trade Fiesta will not only provide people with positive and uplifting experience but also educate and inspire consumers to keep buying and supporting the Fair Trade and Fairtrade products. Fair Trade Fiesta was so proud to celebrate Scotland's Fair Trade Nation renewal status that saw young people, schools and universities, interfaith groups, community groups, disability groups, Fair Trade organisations/businesses and individuals joining that fantastic occasion! |
